Removable Planter Deck, Pioneered by 70Wood Ensures No Damage To Water Proofing System

70wood Singapore pioneered the concept and design of removable decks, sensing the inappropriateness of fixed decks for apartment planter boxes.  Firstly, fixed decking for planter box is non-compliant.  In other words, it amounts to illegal change of use.

Statutory compliance aside, the drilling and punching of holes to the walls of planter boxes cause damage to any water proofing membranes beneath the surface layer.  What results is possible seepage of water through the internal concrete, and further causing corrosion to steel bars and ultimately spalling the concrete.

Our system uses a steel support fitting into the planter box and resting the prefabricated deck on the structure.  It takes only minutes on-site fitting with most of the works already completed in our factory.  Aesthetically, it is also comparably better because there are no visible screw marks.

This project for a private apartment at Changi shows the use of 90cm x 30cm interlocking deck tiles sitting on top of the metal stands.  This is because the width of the planter box is exactly 30cm and thus the most cost effective option.  Earlier photos Show the using of 30cm x 30cm deck tiles used at a luxurious sea-facing apartment in the city.

At this project at Punggol Sapphire, because the planter started at the right end of the wall but end before touching the left wall, we suggested to the owner to sit the deck above the planter instead of flushing so that the deck can stop at the other end of the wall, covering the entire planter.  Another difference here is customized deck is used because the width of the planter box is less than 30cm and it's not cost effective to have high wastage and it is also not aesthetic.

This other project at Pinnacle @ Duxton shows the use of customized deck but this time the deck flushes with the level of the planter.  So we can therefore see that there is versatility in the use of removable planter decks, catering to both cost effectiveness and practicality.

You can see it is raining when installation is taking place.  It took no more than 15mins to put the decks together because all works were pre-complete in factory, causing no inconvenience to the owner.
